Both showed fantastic amounts of strength and pain in their roles.Īnother I loved is the antagonist of the film, played by the beautiful Sofia Boutella, she was intimidating as the special effects used on her made the undead princess look stunning and powerful. Speaking of the CGI, I liked the fact that Ahmanet’s mummified face becomes more human when she kisses her human victims, however they become mummified zombies which are terrifying at times especially in 3D. Another big name is Russell Crowe who plays a big role in this movie and he may link all other monster movies upcoming together. Tom Cruise leads this film as the main protagonist, for the most part he played his role well and pulled the movie forward. Universal made this new version with Tom Cruise as the first instalment of a shared universe called Dark Universe, which will have many other films rebooted such as Frankenstein, Bride of Frankenstein, Dracula, The Invisible Man and many others. The Mummy is a reboot and a modernisation of Universal’s famous monster franchise which was created in 1932 as part of their monster’s series. It’s set in the sweeping sands of the middle east to modern day London and to me the Mummy brought a surprising balance of horror and thrills into a creative new take which brings in a new world of gods and monsters. The Mummy was great, the movie tells the tale of an ancient Egyptian princess who is awakened from her crypt, bringing with her a terror that will defy humans.
